The Altered Book as Container: Considerations for Self-Care
This workshop is an experientially based training for mental health providers introducing the altered book as a tool for self-care. The format of the workshop will begin with a didactic component highlighting areas including: ethical implications of self-care, maintaining personal and professional boundaries, the concept of the therapist as human being, and the importance of developing individualized self-care plans. The facilitators will provide information and resources on unique methods for creative coping, and participants will be invited to begin exploring their own personalized self-care plans. Finally, participants will be introduced to the altered book as a therapeutic tool for expressing and containing their experience as mental health professionals.
